    Module LTHE

Competence and engagement with appropriate aspects of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UK PSF)
Pass (excellent) – You demonstrated high level of competence in areas that are relevant to the module. There is evidence of deep and critical engagement with appropriate aspects of the areas of activity, core knowledge and values of the UK PSF.

    Engagement and application of literature
Pass (excellent) – You demonstrated critical engagement with a broad range of generic and some subject specific HE literature. There was evidence of the transformation and synthesis of ideas through application in own practice. You used the Harvard Referencing consistently throughout.

    Reflection
Pass (excellent) – There is rich evidence of deep, appropriate reflection (i.e. critical exploration and reasoning of practice in a wider context). Your work provides a clear picture of the impact of learning during the module. Your self-analysis is good. You provided a clear action plan for further development. Your plan is completely informed by the reflection.

To improve the work in the future
    • More focused academic writing. Pick a specific theme and then deepen your thinking and reflection. You will notice that this will help you also to become more analytical in your observations.
    • Further engagement with subject-specific literature. This could happen through carrying out pedagogic research which you have started doing. There might be opportunities to work with more experienced colleagues and carry out research together.
    • While you refer to the UK PSF in your work in a more general sense, remember to refer to the dimensions of the framework more explicitly in your next PGCAP module.

    Hi Neil,
It was such a pleasure to immerse myself into your portfolio and all the work you have been doing throughout the module. You created a very rich reflective account of your learning and all your work evidences deep and meaningful engagement. You have used this module to learn and explore a variety of concepts and ideas as well as theories and connect and collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines and this is evident through your reflections on the observations but also the insightful assessment and feedback study you completed with your peers. This is wonderful! Keep reflecting to enhance your practice even further in the future. Very well done!
Please let me know if you wish to discuss any of the above. Thank you.

All the very best for your optional module.

    Chrissi
ps. I also loved the way you used media to bring some of your thoughts to life for others.

    Mark pass (excellent)

To improve the work in the future

    ● A more succinct literature review with a greater focus on fewer research strands
    ● More explicit reference to the UKPSF especially in relation to your own professional and personal development requirements
    ● I would have liked to have seen a summary of the raw data that you received from your questionnaire, the Tableau Public visualisations were great but sometimes a little difficult to interpret.

    Comments

    Hi Neil,
I really enjoyed reading your portfolio and was incredibly impressed with the amount of work that you have put in to this submission. I really enjoyed the way that you moved between technical and pedagogic literature and personal reflection – referring back to you project at each stage, and were not scared to challenge or amend your original thinking.

Throughout you have shown meaningful engagement and have been open and honest as well as self-critical and have seen this as vital for your own professional development. At times you felt hampered by the blog/ALT format and wanted to take your reflections and research into other areas beyond the ALT scope, this is particularly evident in your excellent Literature Review which overreached but was never rambling.

This was an exciting project that could be extended in a number of directions – “gamification” of your puzzles by increasing the challenge and competitive elements, students as game developers. I hope that once the dust has settled on ALT you will use the work that you have started on the module as the basis for future dissemination of this work.

Please let me know if you wish to discuss any of the above face-to-face. Thank you.
    Very best wishes.

    Peter Whitton
